What is a carousel post?
A carousel post on Instagram lets creators publish between 2 and 10 photos, videos, or a mix of both in a single post. Viewers swipe left to advance through the slides. Carousel posts consistently receive higher engagement than single-image posts because the swipe interaction keeps viewers in the post longer.
Why you might want to download the entire carousel
- Saving a recipe series that spans multiple photos
- Archiving a photo dump from a trip or event
- Collecting a visual tutorial that spans multiple instructional slides
- Keeping a before-and-after post where each slide shows a different stage
How to download a single slide
After pasting the carousel link into InstaDownloader, the results grid shows each slide with its own Download button. Tap the image icon under any slide to download that specific file. Photos save as JPEG and videos save as MP4.
How to download all slides as a ZIP
Tap Download all as ZIP at the top of the results grid. The browser fetches each file in parallel directly from Instagram's CDN and builds the ZIP archive locally using JSZip. Depending on the number of slides and your internet speed, this typically completes in 5-15 seconds.
What does "built locally" mean?
The ZIP assembly happens inside your browser tab using JavaScript. The files travel directly from Instagram's servers to your device without passing through InstaDownloader's server. As a result, no copies are stored or logged - the server only provides the original CDN URLs.
File naming inside the ZIP
Files inside the ZIP are named slide_01.jpg, slide_02.jpg, slide_03.mp4 and so on, numbered to match the order they appear in the post.
Maximum slides per carousel
Instagram allows up to 10 slides per carousel. All 10 are fetched and included in the ZIP.
Troubleshooting large carousels
If the ZIP download stalls on a slow connection, try downloading the slides individually instead of as a bundle. Each file is smaller and completes faster one at a time.
Album posts vs regular carousels
Instagram treats multi-image posts with a layout template slightly differently internally, but the downloader handles both formats identically. If you see a post with multiple images, the ZIP option will appear.
