The 125-character rule

Captions truncate at around 125 characters in the feed before the "more" link. Treat that first line as your headline. If it doesn't earn a tap, the rest never gets read.

Hooks that pull comments

  • End with a direct, specific question.
  • Take a strong opinion. Mild captions get scrolled.
  • Promise something - "Save this for…" or "Comment X and I'll send you…"
  • Use line breaks. A wall of text is a stop sign.
